Poetry-Perfection is a Myth

Perfection

Perfection is a myth

So why are you obsessing over something that is impossible?

It’s just not plausible

To focus on being so phenomenal

So why not focus on something that’s actually possible?

I’ll tell you why

Because I’ve walked in your shoes

You’ve lit up this fuse

This is literally old news

I’ve seen how once you start

You get stuck in this vision of black and white

You literally lose sight

Because everything you see can only be good or bad

And God it’s just so sad

You want perfection so bad

That you’ll give up everything you once had

Ask anyone what perfection looks like to them

Notice how everyone has a different definition

It’s because our vision

Is our addiction

And it’s the cause of our affliction

So the cycle becomes unstoppable

Because you’ve created this obstacle

And it’s becoming so volatile

Don’t you see you’ve become an addict

Hasn’t it clicked

You’ve become so strict

That your only high is to restrict

And I can predict what happens next

Because I’ve lived through this

You think you’ve entered some kind of bliss

Trust me,

This isn’t something you want to reminisce

I don’t mean these words to be a diss

But this a topic that cannot be dismissed

Perfection is a myth

So stop focusing on this false ideation

You’re creating so much frustration

Focusing on this unrealistic fixation

You are your own creation

So become your own salvation

Change your perspective

Because perfection is a myth

Mental Health Notes

You can have depression and laugh. You can have depression and be grateful. You can have depression and be happy sometimes. Depression isn't all about the stereotypical way of wearing black and crying
